The Charleston Section, NCJW celebrated Chanukah in the Square with our own Dreidels.  As you can see from the picture, Linda Chavis and Terry Schildcrout represented us well.  The event was enormous fun and an opportunity to talk about our successful campaign against domestic violence.

We are thrilled that Linda Slucker, national president of NCJW is our Speaker for our program on Israel on February 9, 2012.  Linda will speak about the recent NCJW Mission and NCJW's role in Israel.  The event will be at Charleston County Public Library, 68 Calhoun Street at 6:15 p.m.  Everyone is welcome to join us.  For a wonderful change of pace, our March program will be exploring Tai Chi.  Please mark your calendar for the evening of March 27, 2012.

Our Board of Directors has begun a formal strategic planning process to focus our efforts and commitments.  We are also re-examining our committee structure and our communications plan.  All input is welcome.  Please call if you have ideas or want to participate.

The Charleston Section is truly proud of Sarah Finkelstein, our Vice President for Community Service.  She has been honored by The Zonta Club of Charleston.  Sarah was recognized as the “Best Volunteer” of the year for her work in our campaign against domestic violence.  This well- deserved award was presented at Zonta’s Breaking the Silence Awards Gala, on January 28, 2012Ellen Steinberg was recognized at the same event as Liza’s Lifeline Person of the Year.  Mazal tov to Sarah and Ellen.  It is good to be reminded of just how much an individual can do to make our community better and safer.
